DINING

Fuelled and Fresh

At The Great Aussie Bush Camp, we believe in keeping children healthy, active, and fuelled with delicious meals.

All our food is prepared fresh daily onsite in our commercial kitchens by qualified chefs, making sure it’s not only nutritious but also something everyone will enjoy.

Our menu is packed with variety, from hamburgers and spaghetti Bolognese to classic BBQs with sausages, rissoles, and a salad bar. For breakfast, we offer both hot and cold options like pancakes, scrambled eggs, spaghetti, and a range of cereals. Plus, fresh fruit and drinks are always on hand at every meal to keep you hydrated and energised throughout the day.

Special dietary requirements

With over 65,000 students passing through our camps each year, we are fully versed on all dietary requirements. Our team understands the challenges of food allergies and cultural requirements, and we make sure everyone feels safe and satisfied. Whether it’s coeliac, vegetarian, halal, lactose intolerance, or anaphylaxis, we have it covered.

Before camp, we work with schools to collect all dietary information, ensuring an exceptional camp experience not just for activities, but for the fresh, tasty meals too.

When children with dietary needs arrive for their first meal they’ll be given a coloured wristband that flags their requirements. They will then meet with the chef to discuss their needs, ensuring they get the right meal every time. If a child needs to bring their own food, that’s ok too, just let us know before arriving at camp.

We’re an allergy-aware camp with a HACCP-controlled kitchen, regularly inspected for safety. Our strict policies and procedures prevent cross-contamination, including coeliac-safe alternatives where necessary.

Meal AND DIETARIES

What is the food like at Great Aussie Bush Camp?

All our meals are freshly prepared onsite by our qualified chefs in our commercial kitchen, and are not only tasty and nutritious, but also filling to keep students energised throughout the day.

Breakfast features a delightful mix of hot and cold options, including pancakes, scrambled eggs, cereals, and more. Fresh fruit is served at every meal, along with refreshments to keep everyone hydrated.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please check in with your school or give us a call to discuss options. For more details on dietaries, head over to our dining page.

Can I bring my own food to camp?
Campers are encouraged to leave food at home, as it can attract wildlife to the student accommodation. However, if you have specific dietary requirements, you can bring your own food, but please make sure to organise this with us before your arrival at camp.
Can the kitchen cater for specific dietary needs?

Absolutely! At The Great Aussie Bush Camp, we understand that some students may have food allergies or specific dietary needs. We catering to a wide range of requirements, including coeliac, vegetarian, halal, lactose intolerance, anaphylaxis, and severe allergies.

In certain cases, students may be allowed to bring their own food, but it’s essential to speak with your school’s organising teacher to discuss this beforehand.

We take food safety seriously, operating an allergy-aware, HACCP-controlled kitchen that undergoes regular inspections by health and safety officers.

What is a mess kit?
A mess kit consists of a plate, cup, knife and fork. We suggest packing plastic or melamine items as these are not easily broken or damaged.

We went as a small school group and it was so great. The instructors were amazing. They all had great energy and delivery. As teachers, we all loved the night guard aspect and the food was top notch for staff and students. All of my kids had a great time too!

Amazing camp. The instructors are fantastic with the kids. The teachers are really like after. Nothing is too difficult and they are always checking in to make sure everything was going well and to see if there was anything that we needed or they could do for us. The activities were so much fun. Their challenge by choice philosophy is great. It allows the children to feel safe enough to try new things but without the pressure. Such a brilliant camp.
